I finished up my December Knit-Along socks just in the nick of time! These are part of a monthly knit-along I participated in with the Facebook group Knit & Chat. It really is a fantastic group of knitters who are super helpful with questions, showing of our stuff, and general knitting chatter. For December, we were to complete a pair of socks that represented winter.
The pattern name - soft snow socks - speaks for itself about winter. The yarn is a Malabrigo base that I hand-dyed myself in the kitchen. It was my first go at trying to dye a gradient - and obviously I've got some practice to so. Those lines are not a soft gradient in the least! And my dye job must have been off because I had to cut the yarn to make the stripes on the pair line up. But I'm still pretty please with how the pair turned out. The darkest color is a deep green, with just a hint of blue that reminds me of a Blue Spruce Christmas tree. It then move to a lighter green, into mint, into soft gray and ends with a dark steely gray.

Let's get started!
Hey friends! Welcome to the very first blog post for Heirloom Purls! I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while and this is the year it's finally going to happen. One check off my New Year's resolution list! Here's a list of the other things I'm hoping to accomplish in the New Year, and plan on sharing with all of you!
Until next time - have an awesome New Year's eve and stay safe!
- Learn two-color Brioche knitting, because it's sooo beautiful!
- Knit my first Amigurumi (Stuffed animals). I've got two new little nieces or nephews coming, and they need lovies!
- Knit baby blankets for said nieces or nephews.
- 12 pair of socks! I joined a sock Knit-along club that knits a pair each month.
- Knit a baby blanket for my 2 year old (which I planned on doing when I was pregnant and never got around to. Time to get that finished before she's old enough to resent me for it!)
- 100 days clean eating challenge! We're starting this up in February, mostly because I'm tired of eating things I can't pronounce that come from a box.
- And of course, the obligatory exercise and lose 10 pounds. This has been on my list for the last five years. Ehhhh.... maybe it'll happen this year.
- And here's the biggie! My goal is to knit completely from my yarn stash this year. NO MORE BUYING YARN! (I know, I know, blasphemy!) But I've got 10 large totes full, and am at the point where I'm not even sure what's in there anymore! Time to use some up!
Until next time - have an awesome New Year's eve and stay safe!
